Welcome To The Bakers Arms
Somerford Keynes, Cirencester, Glos, GL7 6DN
The Bakers Arms is a pretty chocolate-box Cotswold pub to be found four miles south of Cirencester, built from the distinctive honey coloured stone of the area. Somerford Keynes is in the Cotswold Water Park and Keynes Park Beach is only a short distance away, as are the Thames Path and the Cotswold Way, making the pub a convenient watering hole to rest weary legs and replenish the batteries with a well-earned pint and a bite to eat.
We are also conveniently placed in relation to The Lower Mill Estate, from where it is a pleasant 0.7 mile stroll through Somerford Keynes Village to our door.
Dating back to about the 17th Century, as the name implies, the pub did have a bakery once, and also a shop.
The cosy bar has low beamed ceilings with an inglenook fireplace. Food is served either in the bar area or in the characteristic restaurant overlooking the shaded patio and large garden to the rear. We can cater for parties large and small, but it is advisable to book in advance, particularly over weekends to avoid disappointment.
There is a large car park with two secure and enclosed garden areas, one with a children's play area. Families with children and dogs (if kept on leads) are all welcome.
Our food is all home cooked and freshly prepared by our chefs, using local suppliers where possible. We keep a selection of lagers and ciders, and three or four cask ales - typically Flying Monk Brewery's Elmers, Sharp's Doombar, Butcombe and a Guest Ale.
The pub is open every day from 12.00 noon. Occasionally, during busy periods, it is necessary to close the kitchen for an hour or so in the afternoon, to allow our chefs to catch up with cleaning and prep for the evening service. If this is likely to inconvenience you, please ring us and check ahead of your visit.
Tuesday nights are Curry Night - All of our curries are authentic and home-made, inspired by traditional Thai, Malaysian and Indian dishes. Full Main Menu also available.
Thursday night is Steak Night - Delicious, locally sourced steaks, served with chips, salad and a glass of wine £11-18. Full Main Menu also available.
